It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

To get into the festive spirit on Sunday my friend Natalie and I made the journey to Holden Clough Nursery in Clitheroe to visit The Garden Kitchen for a Christmas picnic afternoon tea. The Christmas afternoon tea is served on a miniature picnic bench and certainly didn’t disappoint.

Nestled in the country side and down many a winding road, you will find Holden Clough Nursery. Ran by BBC Young Gardener of the Year 2012, John, the nursery features The Garden Kitchen tea room. All the food is sourced locally  and their take on the traditional afternoon tea is pretty special. Adapted for Christmas, the picnic looked amazing and tasted great too.

Each picnic bench serves two and was a fantastic way to spend a rainy Sunday and kick off the Christmas period. The bench included  chocolate Christmas tree cupcake, mincemeat crumble, truffle Christmas puddings, a selection of festive canapes, wellington boot of mulled wine each, glass of proseco and tea or coffee. Afternoon tea in style!
